The Clifton Downs (8 miles)
The Downs are an 82 hectares area of protected parkland bordering the Avon Gorge north of the city centre which welcome outdoor team sports, runners and walkers all year round. Many events such as funfairs, an annual flower show and a music festival are hosted on its grounds. On the Eastern side, there is a fantastic view of the gorge from where you can observe rare species of plants and birds that are local to Bristol.
Near the Clifton suspension Bridge sits the Clifton Camera Obscura, where views across the city can be experienced through the camera.
