The Harbourside ( 12 miles)
The Bristol HarbourThe Bristol harbour has existed since the 13th century but has only been in its current organization since the 19th century. It has tidal lock gates that allow boats to enter in what is called a floating harbour. Most of the commerce has been transferred to Avonmouth and the Harbour is now home to a vibrant life that includes museums such as the Arnolfini and the M-Shed, restaurants on the waterfront, We the Curious (a science museum) and the famous Watershed, a hub for avant-garde film, café and creative workshops, as well as clubs and bars. You can visit various attractions by taking a ferryboat around the floating harbour. It hosts the Bristol Harbour Festival, which attracts over 200,000 visitors each, the Vegan Festival and music events throughout the Summer months at the Amphitheatre and Waterfront Square.
